At least some BT card manufacturers seem to think they will make more
money by not releasing the specifications for their cards, so obviously
they cannot be supported by embedded Linux (without some
reverse-engineering efforts).

I'm sure there are many people on this list who'd directly jump into
writing a driver for a BT PC card the minute you find a manufacturer who
is willing to tell you the interface API. This will then be the card of
choice for situations like the iPAQ -> they will sell more cards. So go
and bug the manufacturers for the specs and you'll get the elegant
solution!
