non-prefixed symbols

Hi there,

I'm trying to compile and install a character device driver. I did all the
stuff described in "Documentation/Software/How to Write Device Drivers for
Linux (Linux 2.4)" on the AXIS homepage. When making a new kernel image
(make kernel) after a certain time there are the following error lines:

...
if[!-e /home/.../axis/devoard_lx/os/linux/arch/cris/cris.ld.tmp -o
/home/.../axis/devboard_lx/os/linux/arch/cris/cris.ld -nt
/home/.../axis/devboard_lx/os/linux/arch/cris/cris.ld.tmp]; then sed -e
s/@CONFIG_ETRAX_DRAM_VIRTUAL_BASE@/0x60000000/ -e s/@CONFIG_ETRAX_DRAM_SIZE
_M@xxxxxxx.ld >
/home/.../axis/devboard_lx/ox/linux/arch/cris/cris.ld.tmp; else true; fi &&
/usr/local/cris/lib/gcc-lib/cris/2.96/ld -mcrisself -r -o drivers.o
ethernet.o serial.o axisflashmap.o i2c.o eeprom.o gpio.o da1302.o [object
file]

/usr/local/cris/lib/gcc-lib/cris/2.96/rld-cris: [object file]: uses
non-prefixed symbols, but writing file with _-prefixed symbols

Bad value: failed to merge target specifig data of file [object file]

make[3]: *** [drivers.o] Error 1

make[3]: Leaving directory
'/home/.../axis/devboard_lx/os/linux/arch/cris/drivers'
...

May anyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks a lot,
Marco
