The ETRAX pins are compatible with both 3.3 and 5V.
We still recommend buffers when connecting ATA because
the maximum output current from ETRAX is low. We have
found that 74F245 works best.
I would also recommend that you to let us review your
schematics before you make the PCBs.

Is it possible to connect a ATA- harddisk without any other drivers to
the ETRAX 100LX? I mean, the 3.3 volt logic should be ok to drive the
harddisk. But all output signals of a harddisk like IBM's TRAVELSTAR are
5V logic. Do I have to add conversion logic to the ETRAX 100LX?
