Yes, the synchronous serial port driver supplied with linux 2.4
have interrupt handlers. In the kernel configuration you can 
choose to run the synchronous serial ports in DMA mode or
in manual mode. In manual mode, interrupts are used to receive 
characters.

I have attached a kernelconfiguration that sets synchronous 
serial port 0 in manual mode.

    Has the driver implemented interruption routines?
    Should I modify the driver by hand to get it?
