The supplied kernelconfig doesn't support using ktest (booting from RAM).
Make sure the following config is set to enable that:
CONFIG_MTD_MTDRAM=y
CONFIG_MTDRAM_TOTAL_SIZE=0
CONFIG_MTDRAM_ERASE_SIZE=64
CONFIG_MTDRAM_ABS_POS=0

Do it from:
Memory Technology Devices (MTD)  -->
Self-contained MTD device drivers -->
Enable Test driver using RAM
Set device size to 0
Set the erase block size to 64
Set absolute position to 0
