where can you retain original kernel image installed

How can one get original 'factory settings' of the axis devboard_82
kernel image?
I have compiled a kernel and I want to flashit to the board. If the
software that I
have compiled is corrupted, How can I retain the old settings back. All
I know is when you
execute flashit - it will write and erase the original data. Also the
ktest script - does nothing - meaning you
can't test the new kernel.

Thank you, and please reply.
