JFFS broken?

Has anyone tried JFFS(1) lately?

I'm trying to use JFFS in linux-2.4.12 (same as current CVS), but a write
results in the following:

Axis flash: write to 0x1b6902 failed. datum = ffff, verify = 68
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b6904 failed. datum = 3931, verify = 28
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b694c failed. datum = 3931, verify = 68
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b6994 failed. datum = 3931, verify = 28
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b69dc failed. datum = 3931, verify = 68
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b6a24 failed. datum = 3931, verify = 28
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
JFFS: jffs_write_node: Failed to write, requested 72, wrote 1
Axis flash: write to 0x1b6a6c failed. datum = 3931, verify = 68
Didn't write all bytes in flash_safe_writev(). Returned -5
.
.
.

I don't think the problem is in MTD, because I don't get these errors with JFFS
from linux-2.4.10.
