JFFS2 crash (details)




I have a little more information on the JFFS2 kernel crash I reported
a couple weeks ago.  The issue is that the kernel always 'oops'es on a
reboot (or halt).

At this point, I'm willing to posit a guess that the issue is in JFFS2.

I believe this because when I NFS boot the board, (e.g. with root on
NFS), things are fine unless I a) mount the JFFS2 partition **and**
change a file in it.  If I only mount or mount/unmount the partition,
the kernel doesn't crash, but if I so much as touch a file, I have a
certain 'oops' when I type 'reboot'.

And, if I boot with the flash (mtdblock/0) as root (JFFS2) but
read-only, I get no crash.

I'm running whats in the 2.4.18 (2.4.19pre1, nearly the same, if not
identical) tree, modulo the patch for the call to invalidate_device in
mtdblock_release().
